Welcome to our fun and easy 10-step drawing tutorial! Today, we are going to draw a fox together.

Foxes are adorable animals. If you’ve ever seen one in person, you’ll know how cute they can be! They often have beautiful bright red or orange fur. An especially stunning fox is the Arctic fox—these kinds have brilliant white fur, and they almost blend in with the snow.

They are nocturnal animals, meaning they normally sleep during the day and are active at night. They have really good night vision to help them hunt! They also tend to hang out by themselves as opposed to in a pack, earning them the title of a “solitary” animal. However, they are still very playful animals.

So, are you ready to draw a cute little fox? Gather some art supplies and let’s go!

Let’s start by drawing the ears and the top of the head. Did you know foxes have excellent hearing? Apparently, some foxes can even hear a clock ticking from forty feet away!

Close to the top of the page, draw an outline of two triangular ears connected by a small curve in between. It should be slightly to the left.

Step 2 – Continue drawing the head.

On both sides of the fox’s head, draw two lines extending outwards. Each should be about two inches long. This forms the top of the head.

Step 3 – Finish drawing the head.

Draw the bottom of the face in this step. Draw a wide curve for the chin. Add some little zig-zags to the outline to symbolize fur tufts on the face. Refer to the photo!

Step 4 – Add the face of the fox.

Let’s draw a face on our fox! Draw two dots near the middle of the fox’s head for the eyes. Eyesight is very important for a fox’s survival since it helps them see really well at night. Their pupils are slits, similar to a cat’s, which help them see better at night.

In between the eyes, draw a small upside down triangle for the nose. Then, draw two small curves for the mouth!

Step 5 – Add detail to the ears.

Let’s add more to the ears. In each of the ear shapes, draw a smaller triangle to show some depth and detail. Good job!

Step 6 – Draw the front legs.

Depending on the breed, foxes can run up to 40 miles per hour! We need to add legs to our fox! Our fox is going to be standing up. Let’s start with the two front legs.

Draw a line extending downwards from the left side of the head. Draw a curve at the bottom. About an inch to the right, draw another small curve for the second leg. Check out the photo.

Step 7 – Draw the rest of the body shape.

From the bottom right of the face, draw a large curve for the rear and back leg of the fox. Draw a slightly curved horizontal line for the belly. Lastly, draw another small curve below for the last leg.

Step 8 – Add detail to the body.

Below the head, draw a few lines to indicate the markings on the fur. Most red foxes have a white marking here. Look at the photo!

Step 9 – Draw two legs!

One of the most distinctive traits of a fox is its bushy tail! Tails can help a fox balance and keep them warm when they lay down.

On the far right side of the body, draw a large leaf shape. It should point upward and be a few inches wide. Add some detail to the end by drawing a squiggly line.

Almost done! We’ve just got one very fun step left.

Step 10 – Color in your fox!

Foxes can be red, grey, black, or white. We normally think of them as being red because that is what the most common color is.

So, pick out any colors you want and have fun coloring in your fox. Fill in the rest of the page, too, while you’re at it!

Pin it now, Draw later!
