What Makes Yummers Dog Food Different?

We use fresh, whole ingredients carefully sourced in the USA (with the exception of our New Zealand lamb). Each protein is carefully selected to be free from hormones and antibiotics, ensuring only the best for your pet.

We craft all our recipes in small batches with great care. Each ingredient is prepared individually to preserve essential nutrients and irresistible flavors. FAQs

Where do you source your ingredients?

We carefully source all our ingredients in the USA, with the exception of our pasture raised lamb which comes from New Zealand to make sure that we are giving your pet the best.

Why does your food cost more than kibble?

Our premium dog foods aren’t kibble! We want your dog to have the highest quality ingredients and we know you do too!

All the proteins used in our recipes (chicken, beef, salmon, ocean fish and lamb) are hormone and anti-biotic free. They are carefully sourced in the USA (with the exception of our lamb from New Zealand). Our chicken is cage free, our fish is ocean-raised, and our lamb and beef are pasture-raised.

Then, we meticulously make all of our recipes in small batches, specially crafting each individual ingredientseparately to lock in the nutrients dogs need and the flavor they crave. Proteins and antioxidants are freeze-dried to ensure they remain nutrient dense. Purple sweet potatoes are dehydrated to retain their high fiber content. Ancient grains are gently cooked in order to support your dog's digestive system.

This all comes at a premium, but we thinkevery dog is worthy of such meals.

FAQs

Can you mix beef and chicken for dog food? ›

There is currently no known harm in combining different meats into your pets' diet unless you are aware that they are allergic to certain types of meat for pets.

Can I feed my dog chicken and beef everyday? ›

Cooked beef can be given as meal toppers or treats. However, you cannot feed your dog only cooked beef every day. Dogs need a complete and balanced diet with the correct proportions of nutrients. Even though dogs can eat different types of meat including pork and chicken, meat-only diets do not qualify.

What ingredients should be in homemade dog food? ›

Your pet needs protein (animal meat, seafood, dairy, or eggs), fat (from meat or oil) and carbohydrates (grains or vegetables). They also need calcium (from dairy or an ingredient such as egg shells), and essential fatty acids (from certain plant oils, egg yolks, oatmeal, and other foods).

Is chicken or beef easier for dogs to digest? ›

Chicken is a leaner option than red meat for overweight dogs. It's a great source of cysteine methionine, an important amino acid for a healthy coat. It's easy on the stomach, so it's a great food to offer your pet after a gastrointestinal illness.

What is the healthiest meat for dogs? ›

Some of the better options for lean meat cuts are chicken breasts, lean cuts of beef such as sirloin or flank steak, and pork tenderloin. These kinds of cuts can be boiled, baked, or grilled, but you'll want to avoid adding seasonings or other ingredients that might be harmful to your dog.

What is the best ground meat for dogs? ›

Chicken, turkey, lean ground beef, and chuck steak or roast are animal-based proteins, which help dogs grow strong. A few rules apply: Always cook meat well. Never serve it raw or undercooked.

Can dogs eat scrambled eggs? ›

Eggs are nutritious for both people and dogs. They can be tasty treats or a hearty breakfast, whether they're hard-boiled, poached, scrambled, or over easy. A cooked entire egg or yolk can be good for your dog, unless your pet has a pre-existing health condition like acute pancreatitis or diabetes.

What meat should dogs not eat? ›

Feeding your dog fatty foods, like hot dogs, bacon, ribs, or fried chicken, can upset your dog's stomach and cause vomiting and diarrhea. It can also lead to pancreatitis, which is an inflammation of the pancreas. Some breeds, like Miniature Schnauzers and Yorkshire Terriers, may be more prone to pancreatitis.

Why is my dog not eating his food but will eat human food? ›

Health Issues. Certain health issues might cause your dog to lose interest in their regular food but continue eating treats. Illnesses such as dental problems, kidney diseases, or neurological conditions can alter a dog's appetite and make them picky about food.

What not to put in homemade dog food? ›

Notes: In general, look for a ratio of 50% protein, 25% veggies/greens, 25% grain. Feel free to mix and match veggies, but there are some things dogs should NEVER eat: NO xylitol, chocolate, avocado, cherries, grapes/raisins, tomatoes, asparagus, mushrooms, onions, garlic, macadamia nuts.

What is the best base for homemade dog food? ›

What are the essential ingredients for homemade dog food? In general, a nutritionally complete homemade dog food recipe should include: At least 10 percent protein, such as chicken, fish, turkey, or lean beef. Up to 50 percent carbs, like rice, pasta, and potatoes (also a great source of fiber!)

Is sweet potato good for dogs? ›

Sweet potato is a safe, healthy, and natural treat for dogs, offering a range of health benefits (and a sweet flavor they'll likely love). For example, sweet potatoes support a healthy digestive system thanks to their high dietary fiber content. They're also low in fat and contain essential vitamins like B6, C, and A.

What is the healthiest protein for dogs? ›

Chicken, beef, and fish are excellent sources of this nutrient, and they're easy to digest. You can even add protein-rich dog food toppers for an extra boost. Protein is essential for energy and muscle building.

Is Pro Plan a good dog food? ›

Purina Pro Plan dog food is just one kind of dog food from Purina. It's Purina's high-end offering, containing better-quality ingredients than its other foods. For the most part, it contains quality ingredients, though it does contain some fillers and by-products in some of its lines.

Can you mix chicken and beef together? ›

In short, yes. Chicken and steak or other cuts of beef can, in fact, be marinated together. Whether or not that's recommended is another question. When marinating meat together, the flavor of beef may become present in your chicken.

What meat to mix with dog food? ›

You can add ground beef, chicken, lamb or venison, as well as vegetables, such as zucchini, carrots, parsnips, beets, yams, butternut squash, and sweet potatoes.

Is it okay to mix ground beef with dog food? ›

Yes, dogs can eat ground beef! Adding ground beef to your best friend's diet provides a source of protein, amino acids, essential fatty acids, and minerals to their day-to-day lives — some of which they can't produce themselves. Ground beef is a nutritious and delicious addition to your dog's meals.

Is it okay to mix different dog foods? ›

Many pet foods are formulated with a specific life stage, lifestyle, and sometimes even health condition in mind. Mixing foods willy-nilly without taking this into consideration can inadvertently impact your pet negatively, including causing undesired weight gain, overexposure to certain vitamins and minerals, etc.
